UGC suggests introducing digital administration system in universities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has advised to develop a digital administration system in universities with the aim of establishing Smart Bangladesh by 2041. On Monday (November 20), as part of the implementation of UGC's 2023-24 fiscal year e-governance and innovation action plan, the matter was advised by UGC member professor Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain while he was speaking as the chief guest.

UGC's innovation team organized the day-long workshop. Director of the research support and publication department of the commission Dr. Fakhrul Islam presided over the workshop while the Dean of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Dhaka University Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu was present as expert discussant.

Professor Sajjad Hossain said that digital administration system should be developed in the university as a part of establishing Smart Bangladesh. Establishment of paperless office and all transactions to be done electronically. Then transparency and accountability can be ensured. By doing this, corruption in the university can be eliminated and higher education services can be ensured quickly.

He also said that universities should be developed to increase the skills of students and make them suitable for the market. Universities should give importance to research and innovation to create modern science, information and technology friendly society. A special action plan should be adopted to transform into a smart university.

Member of UGC Innovation Team and Additional Director of Research Support and Publication Department Md. Shaheen Siraj delivered the vote of thanks on the occasion. Dwijendra Chandra Das, Focal Point for Implementation of E-Governance and Innovation Action Plan of UGC and System Engineer conducted the program. Additional Director, Deputy Director and 39 officers of equivalent level participated in the workshop.
